Amazon has updated its Fire TV platform with direct integration of 50 live TV channels from The Roku Channel into the device’s Live TV guide. This change makes it easier for users to find and watch free, ad-supported content without switching apps.
The update brings select live channels from The Roku Channel straight into the Fire TV interface. The Roku Channel offers hundreds of free live streams overall, along with on-demand movies and shows. These 50 channels cover a range of genres, including news, movies, lifestyle content, and more, all supported by advertisements.
How the Live TV Guide Works on Fire TV
Fire TV’s Live TV guide acts as a central hub for channels, much like a traditional cable guide. It already includes free options from services such as:
- Freevee (Amazon’s own)
- Pluto TV
- Tubi TV
- Xumo Play
With this addition, the guide now pulls in content from about 14 free services in total, providing access to over 1,900 live channels across various categories.
The Roku Channel itself has been available as an app on Fire TV devices since 2020. This new step places a selection of its live channels directly in the guide for quicker access. It helps users browse and tune in seamlessly, similar to flipping through broadcast channels.
Why This Matters for Users
Free, ad-supported streaming (often called FAST services) continues to grow as people look for alternatives to paid subscriptions. This integration gives Fire TV owners more choices in one place, which can be particularly helpful for households with multiple users or those who prefer simple navigation.
No extra installation or account setup is needed beyond having a Fire TV device. Users can head to the Live tab to start exploring the updated options.
