Vivo V40 Starts Receiving OriginOS 6 Beta Update Based on Android 16

The Vivo V40, a mid-range smartphone originally launched with Android 14, is now getting its second major OS upgrade. Users in India have begun receiving the OriginOS 6 beta, which runs on Android 16.

Update Details

The firmware version for this beta build is PD2363BF_EX_A_16.2.6.15.W30. The download size comes in at around 4.3 GB, typical for a major system overhaul.

This rollout follows OriginOS 6 updates already delivered to newer models like the Vivo V60, V60e, V50, and V50e. Vivo has turned its attention to older devices, starting with the V40.

The update is currently limited to a trial program, so it’s available only to a select group of users. It is not yet the final stable release.

How to Get the Update

If you own a Vivo V40 in India and want to check for access:

  • Go to Settings > About Phone > System updates.
  • Look for the Version Trial option.
  • Select Trial version to request and download if available.

Make sure your device is on the latest software version before trying. Back up your data and charge the phone to at least 50% before installing, as major updates can take time.

What the Update Brings

OriginOS 6 introduces a refreshed look and feel, with:

  • A redesigned user interface
  • Smoother animations throughout the system
  • AI-based lighting effects
  • A new media player layout
  • Better options for lock screen personalization

The update also includes core Android 16 improvements, such as enhanced performance, better privacy controls, and other stock features from Google.

This beta version lets early users test these changes. Vivo will likely expand access and release a stable build in the coming weeks or months, based on feedback.
