Motorola Expands Android 16 Beta to Eight Additional Phones

Motorola has opened its Android 16 beta testing to eight more devices. This move allows owners in certain areas to test the new software before the full release.

The company added these models to the program on January 7, 2026. Users can now apply to try the preview build if they meet the location requirements.

The eight phones now part of the beta include older foldables and mid-range options. Availability varies by market:

  • Motorola Razr 2023 and Razr+ 2023: United States only
  • Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra: India, Brazil, Latin America
  • Edge 50 Neo: Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA), India, Brazil, Latin America

How to Join the Beta

Interested users can sign up through Motorola’s community site. The process requires these steps:

  • Create or log into an account on the Motorola forums.
  • Add your device’s IMEI or serial number to your profile.
  • Enable the Motorola Feedback Network option.
  • Keep your phone on the current software version.
  • Find the testing page for your model and submit the form.

Motorola reviews applications and sends approval emails. Approved users get the update over the air. Check spam folders for notifications.

What the Beta Includes

The preview brings several Android 16 changes to these devices. Users can expect updates like grouped notifications, new emoji options, and better predictive back gestures.

Other additions cover an embedded photo picker, support for advanced audio codecs, HDR screenshot capabilities, and stronger protection modes. The build also includes the latest security fixes.

Beta software may have bugs, so participants should back up data first.

This expansion gives more Motorola owners early access to Android 16. The company continues to roll out testing in phases across its lineup.
