Motorola Opens Android 16 Beta for 4 More Phones

Motorola has expanded its Android 16 beta testing to four additional models: the Moto G35, Moto Edge 40 Pro, Moto Edge+ (2023), and Moto Edge (2024).

This follows earlier expansions this month, where the company opened beta access for other devices like the ThinkPhone and several Razr and Edge models. Owners of these four phones can now apply to test the latest Android version before the stable release arrives.

The beta program uses Motorola’s Feedback Network (MFN). Users register on the company’s community site, provide device details such as IMEI or serial number, and opt in for testing. Approved participants receive the update via OTA notification. The program operates in select regions, though specific countries for these models vary by device.

Beta versions often include new Android 16 elements such as live updates, desktop window support, grouped notifications, updated emojis, embedded photo picker, APV codec compatibility, predictive back gestures, HDR screenshots, and advanced protection features. Note that beta software can contain bugs, so it’s best to avoid installing on a main device without a backup.

To join:

  • Create or log in to an account on the Motorola community website.
  • Update your profile with your phone’s IMEI/serial number.
  • Enable MFN participation.
  • Check the beta opportunities page for your model and region.
  • Submit the application form.

Motorola reviews submissions and notifies approved users by email. Keep the device on the latest stable software and check Settings > System updates after approval. File sizes typically exceed 1GB, so use Wi-Fi and ensure enough storage and battery.

This step helps Motorola gather feedback to refine the final Android 16 rollout for these phones.
