Nvidia has released a native app for its GeForce Now cloud gaming service on select Amazon Fire TV sticks. This update makes it simpler for users to stream PC games to a TV screen without sideloading software.
The app is now live in the Amazon app store for compatible devices. It lets members link their existing libraries from stores like Steam, Epic Games Store, and others, then play supported titles directly over the internet.
Support starts with these models:
- Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2nd Gen) on Fire OS 8.1.6.0 or newer
- Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) on Fire OS 8.1.6.0 or newer
- Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen) on Fire OS 7.7.1.1 or newer
A compatible controller is required to play games on these devices.
Streaming remains capped on Fire TV hardware
While GeForce Now can deliver higher specs on other platforms — including up to 4K or even 5K resolution, higher frame rates, HDR, and advanced audio on premium tiers — Fire TV sticks face stricter caps.
Streams max out at:
- 1080p resolution
- 60 frames per second
- Standard dynamic range (SDR) visuals
- H.264 video codec
- Stereo audio

These restrictions come from the hardware and software setup on the sticks. They prevent access to features like HEVC or AV1 codecs, HDR10, or surround sound that appear elsewhere.
The service first appeared on select Fire TV-branded TVs before this stick rollout. Nvidia announced Fire TV support earlier in January 2026 at CES, and the app launched in mid-February.
This move gives Fire TV owners another option for cloud gaming on affordable hardware. It joins existing services on the platform and broadens GeForce Now’s reach to living rooms.
