Samsung’s 2026 QD-OLED TVs Set to Reach 4500 Nits Brightness

Samsung Display has shared details on its latest QD-OLED panels set for 2026 televisions. These panels promise higher brightness levels through better materials. This move comes as part of ongoing efforts to improve picture quality in premium sets.

Key Improvements in Brightness

The new panels can hit a peak of 4500 nits. This level comes from combining the top brightness of red, green, and blue elements. Samsung used refined organic materials to make this possible.

Such high brightness stands out among self-emissive screens. It leads to more vivid colors and a sense of greater light output. These traits work well with AI tools that adjust images on the fly.

Real-World Performance Expectations

Tests show that claimed peaks often differ from what users see in normal use. For the 2025 models, Samsung aimed for 4000 nits, but reviews found around 2000 nits in tuned settings.

The step up to 4500 nits means about a 12 percent gain. This could push 2026 TVs toward 2500 nits when set up for accuracy. Full-screen light output stayed above 400 nits in prior versions.

Comparison to Competitors

LG Display claimed 4000 nits for its 2025 WOLED panels. Yet, one model only reached 2213 nits in checks. Samsung’s QD-OLED approach may offer an edge in color and perceived brightness.

For 2026, LG plans panels up to 3700 nits. Samsung’s higher target could set a new bar for HDR content.

Future Plans and Availability

Samsung will show these panels at CES 2026. They supply screens for their own TVs and Sony models. Sizes might top out at 77 inches, based on hints.

A company representative noted that these displays now suit a wider range of users. Over 300 products used their panels last year, up from prior counts.
