Common Spectrum Remote Models
Spectrum offers several remotes, each with slight differences in buttons and codes. Popular ones include the URC1160, UR5U-8780L, 1060BC2, and Spectrum Guide remote. Look inside the battery cover or on the back for the model number. Some use three-digit codes, others four or five digits. Always start with fresh batteries to prevent weak signals.

Quick Setup for Popular TV Brands
This works for many models like URC1160. It uses a single digit for common brands.
- Power on your TV.
- Press and hold MENU and OK at the same time until the INPUT light blinks twice.
- Press and release TV POWER.
- Hold the digit for your brand until the TV turns off: 1 for Insignia/Dynex, 2 for LG/Zenith, 3 for Panasonic, 4 for Philips/Magnavox, 5 for RCA/TCL, 6 for Samsung, 7 for Sharp, 8 for Sony, 9 for Toshiba, 0 for Vizio.
- Release the key. Test power and volume.
If it does not work, move to direct entry or auto search.
Direct Code Entry
Use this when you have the code for your brand. Good for precise setup.
- Turn on the device.
- Press the device button (like TV) and OK/SEL together until it blinks twice.
- Enter the code (three, four, or five digits based on model).
- The light blinks twice if accepted.
- Press POWER to test. If no response, try the next code for that brand.
For models like 1060BC2, hold SETUP until the key flashes twice, then enter the code.
Auto Code Search
Ideal if codes are unknown. It scans automatically.
- Power on the device.
- Press the device button and OK/SEL until it blinks twice.
- Enter 991 (or 99 for some models).
- Press the device button again.
- Hit CH+ slowly until the device turns off.
- Press the device button to save.
Test basic functions like volume. Repeat if needed.
Programming Without a Code
This scans without entering numbers.
- Turn on the device.
- Hold MENU and OK until INPUT blinks twice.
- Press TV POWER.
- Hold the up arrow until the device powers off.
- Release and press TV to lock.
