Philips to Launch First OLED TVs with Dolby Vision 2 in 2026

Philips will introduce Dolby Vision 2 support in its OLED televisions this year. Dolby confirmed the news at CES 2026.

The company behind the Philips brand, TP Vision, plans to include the new HDR format in three OLED series: OLED811, OLED911, and flagship OLED951. These models succeed last year’s OLED810, OLED910, and OLED950 ranges.

Why Philips Leads on OLED

Other major brands take different approaches. LG opts out of Dolby Vision 2 for its 2026 lineup. Samsung avoids Dolby Vision formats altogether. This positions Philips as the first to bring Dolby Vision 2 to OLED screens.

Hisense and TCL also adopt the format, but primarily in their Mini LED models. Hisense includes it natively in select RGB Mini LED sets, while TCL plans firmware updates for certain series.

Key Details on the Rollout

A premium direct-lit LED series, the PUS9001, will arrive first and feature Dolby Vision 2. The OLED811 follows as the initial OLED model with the technology. Higher-end OLED911 and OLED951 sets come later in the year.

TP Vision indicates Dolby Vision 2 will span multiple product levels. A variant called Dolby Vision 2 Max targets premium displays for advanced capabilities.

The sets likely use MediaTek’s Pentonic 800 processor, paired with Philips’ own P5 AI engine. This chipset enables Dolby Vision 2 processing.

What Dolby Vision 2 Offers

Dolby Vision 2 builds on the original format with a new image engine called Content Intelligence. It adds tools for better picture adjustment based on content and viewing conditions.

Features address common viewer concerns, such as images appearing too dark in bright rooms. It also includes motion handling improvements and optimizations for sports and gaming.

Content remains compatible with existing Dolby Vision TVs, which play it in the standard format.

Peacock stands as the first streaming service committed to Dolby Vision 2 material.

Philips has not shared full specifications or pricing yet. More details on the 2026 lineup should emerge soon.
