Honor Robot Phone Set for 2026 Launch with 200MP Gimbal Camera

Honor has revealed plans for a new smartphone that stands out with its robotic camera setup. The device, called the Robot Phone, combines phone functions with motion features typically seen in dedicated cameras. It aims to make video recording and AI tasks more interactive.

Debut at MWC 2026

The company shared details about the Robot Phone during its keynote at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This event also featured a humanoid robot and other gadgets. Honor positioned the phone as a step toward devices that respond with physical actions, not just screens or voices.

The design includes a camera that moves on its own, adding a layer of expression to interactions. For example, it can nod or shift position based on user input. This embodied AI approach lets the phone act like a companion on a desk, reacting to motion around it.

Standout Camera Features

At the heart of the Robot Phone is a 200-megapixel sensor mounted on a motorized gimbal. This setup provides three-axis stabilization for steady shots, even during movement. Honor claims it’s the smallest four-degrees-of-freedom gimbal in the industry, shrunk to fit inside a phone.

Key capabilities include:

  • AI object tracking to follow subjects in real time.
  • Rotational shots at 90 and 180 degrees for panoramic views.
  • Gesture controls to direct the camera without touching the screen.
  • Video modes that capture smooth footage, similar to professional tools.

The camera can also analyze outfits or respond to questions, blending AI with physical adjustments. In demos, it showed off moves like dancing to music beats.

When and Where to Expect It

Honor plans to release the Robot Phone in the second half of 2026. The initial rollout will focus on China, with limited stock at first. Global availability remains unconfirmed, though the company hinted at broader markets later.

Some reports suggest the phone builds on the Magic V6 foldable design, but core specs like processor or battery are not yet detailed. This leaves room for more updates as the launch nears.
