Apple today announced updates to its monitor lineup with a refreshed Studio Display and a brand-new Studio Display XDR model.
Both screens measure 27 inches and offer 5K resolution at 5120 by 2880 pixels. They come with built-in cameras, microphones, and speakers for better video calls and audio playback.
Features of the Standard Studio Display
The basic model starts at $1,599 and includes a stand that tilts for easy adjustments.
It has a 12-megapixel camera that supports Center Stage to keep users in frame during calls. The camera also handles Desk View for showing what’s on the desk below.
Audio comes from a set of three microphones and six speakers that work with Spatial Audio.
Connectivity uses Thunderbolt 5 for faster data transfer and linking multiple devices.
Advanced Options in Studio Display XDR
The higher-end version, priced from $3,299, adds a stand that adjusts both tilt and height.
This model uses mini-LED backlighting with more than 2,000 dimming zones. It reaches 1,000 nits for standard content and peaks at 2,000 nits for HDR material.
Contrast hits 1,000,000 to 1, and it covers wide color spaces like P3 and Adobe RGB.
A 120Hz refresh rate makes motion smoother, with Adaptive Sync adjusting between 47Hz and 120Hz.
