How to Program a Universal Remote to Your Konka TV
There are three ways to do this. Method 1 is fastest if you already have the code. Method 2 works when the code is unknown. Method 3 is a manual backup.
Also, before you start — check your remote’s specific button layout using the remote control button explainer tool. Not all universal remotes label buttons the same way.
Method 1 — Direct Code Entry (Fastest)
- Turn on your Konka TV manually using the power button on the TV itself.
- Press and hold the Setup button on your universal remote until the indicator light flashes twice or stays solid.
- Press the TV button on the remote.
- Enter the 3, 4, or 5-digit code from the list above using the number keys.
- The indicator light will turn off after a valid code is accepted.
- Point the remote at the TV and press the Power button.
- If the TV turns off, the code is correct. Press Power again to turn it back on.
- Test volume and channel buttons to confirm full functionality.
- If the TV doesn’t respond, repeat from Step 2 using the next code in the list.
Method 2 — Auto-Search / Code Scan
Use this when you don’t know the right code and want the remote to find it automatically.
- Turn on your Konka TV manually.
- Press and hold the Setup button until the indicator light flashes.
- Press the TV button.
- Press and hold the Power button on the remote. Keep it held down.
- The remote will cycle through its code database one code at a time, sending a power signal with each.
- Release the Power button the moment your Konka TV turns off.
- Press Enter or OK to lock in the code.
- Test the volume and channel buttons. If they work, setup is complete.
Note: Some remotes use the Channel Up button instead of Power for scanning. Check your remote’s manual if the Power button scan doesn’t trigger a response.
Method 3 — Manual Scan
Some older universal remotes don’t have a dedicated Setup button.
- Turn on the Konka TV manually.
- Press the TV Mode button on your remote and hold it for 5 seconds.
- Press Channel Up one press at a time, slowly.
- Each press sends a code to the TV.
- Stop when the TV turns off.
- Press Channel Down once to back up to the working code.
- Press Enter to save.
Troubleshooting — When the Code Doesn’t Work
Problem: TV Doesn’t Respond At All
This usually means the remote is not in setup mode, or the batteries are too weak to transmit a strong IR signal.
- Replace the batteries with fresh AA or AAA cells (1.5V alkaline).
- Make sure nothing is blocking the line of sight between the remote and the TV’s IR sensor. The sensor is usually on the lower-right or lower-center of the TV bezel.
- Stand within 10 feet of the TV when programming. IR signals weaken at distance.
- Try entering setup mode again from scratch — some remotes time out after 30 seconds of inactivity.
Problem: TV Turns Off, But Volume and Channels Don’t Work
The code partially matched. This happens when a code controls power but not all functions.
- Move to the next code in the list and repeat the programming steps.
- For Konka Android TV models (H3, U5, Q7 Pro series), the 5-digit codes tend to provide fuller button mapping than 3 or 4-digit codes. Start with 11223 or 10638.
You can also run the universal remote compatibility check tool to see whether your specific remote model fully supports Konka TVs.
Problem: None of the Codes Work
Try the auto-search method (Method 2) before giving up. If the auto-search also fails:
- Confirm the remote is pointed directly at the TV’s IR sensor, not the screen.
- Check the remote’s user manual to verify it supports 3, 4, or 5-digit Konka codes. Some budget remotes have a limited code database and may not include Konka.
- Try a second universal remote if you have one available.
If you see an error code on your TV screen during any of this, the TV error code lookup tool can tell you what it means.
What If No Code Works?
At this point, the remote you have likely doesn’t support Konka in its database. This is more common with older remotes manufactured before Konka’s North American launch in 2020.
A replacement universal remote — particularly one with an updated 2024–2026 code database — will solve this. Remotes from GE, RCA, and One For All all carry Konka codes in current production models. Look for a model labeled “updated database” or one released after 2021.
If you own a newer Konka Android TV (H3, U5, or Q7 Pro series), some users have also had success pairing a compatible IR remote through the TV’s built-in remote learning function under Settings → Remote & Accessories.
