Programming the Onn Universal Remote Control

The ONN universal remote control is intended to control up to four distinct audio/video devices (TV, DVD, VCR, satellite, cable, and audio) with a single remote. You must program this remote to control the devices of your choice in order to use it.

There are two ways to program the remote – direct code entry or auto code search. Direct Code Entry (Recommended)

1. Look for the Remote Code List in this manual. Find the DEVICE CATEGORY you want to program (for example, TV, DVD, SAT, AUX) and then the BRAND. Make a circle around all of the codes associated with that brand. For a GE TV, find the TV code section and circle all of the GE TV codes.
2. Turn on the gadget you want to operate manually.
3. Press and hold the SETUP button for approximately 2 seconds, or until the red indicator light remains illuminated, and then release the SETUP button.
4. On the remote, press and release the chosen device button (TV, DVD, SAT, AUX). The red indicator will flash once and then remain on.
5. Using the number buttons on the remote, enter the first 4-digit code previously found in the code list. The red indicator light will turn off if the code entered is legitimate. If the code entered is invalid, the red indicator light will blink and remain illuminated, allowing you to re-enter the code. If no buttons are hit for 35 seconds, the remote will exit SETUP mode and you will have to restart from the beginning.
6. Aim the device with the remote. If the gadget shuts off after pressing the POWER button, no additional programming is required for that device. Return to step 3 and enter the next code from the code list if the device does not turn off. Continue this method until you find a code for your device.
